WUPPE PROGRAM Class 2.9

O/B Subdwarfs

UW Astronomer: Geoff Fox

O/B subdwarfs are stars nearing the end of their evolution, on their way to becoming white dwarfs. HUT scheduled several observations in order to study these objects. The targets were all faint for WUPPE, and so the two observations made during the day portion of the orbit are contaminated by scattered light. WUPPE did obtain a spectrum of one other target, and polarization for another. Since there is not expected to be any intrinsic polarization effects the observations made will be analyzed along with the other stars in the WUPPE interstellar medium polarization program.
