Cross Identifications in the Region of Cluster NGC1502 Anthony. J. Weitenbeck Space Astronomy Lab, University of Wisconsin, Madison WI email: ajw@sal.wisc.edu} Full paper in AJ 114, 222, 1997 Introduction In studying this region Purgathofer (1964) [the SIMBAD numbering], Hoag et al.(1961), and Dombrovskii and Hagen-Thorn (1964) each set up their own numbering system; subsequent authors used one or another of those or variants or combinations. Description of the Tables The region covered is 2 degrees in diameter, centered at: (2000) RA 04 04 53.28 dec +62 19 20.7. This is about 15' west of the cluster, the position of HD 25290. Table 1 gives the GSC number, magnitude, and 2000.0 coordinates from the GSC and one or more other IDs. Designations of the form NGC 1502 NN are from Purgathofer (1964) (this originally has letters for the first stars in numerical order), those of the form HoagNN and DHNN are from Hoag et al. (1961) and Dombrovskii and Hagen-Thorn (1964). Hoag et al. give a table of 26 numbered stars with photoelectric photometry, and a second, longer, unnumbered table of stars with photographic photometry, which includes the stars in the other table. Reiman and Pfau numbered the stars in the second table by continuing the numbering from the first table, calling the first star in the second table 27; this system is used here. Table 2 gives cross identifications between the NGC 1502 NN IDs and other numbering schemes. Tapia et al. (1991) used the Hoag et al. numbers, and assigned their own numbers to several of the Hoag et al. unnumbered stars and gave a finding chart. NGC 1502 1 and 2: There is some confusion in the literature over identification of these two similar stars. In SIMBAD the lower HD number HD25638 = 1 is east of HD25639 = 2, and all the other identifications given there are consistent with this. PPM and DH [**NOTE: misprint in AJ paper says "HD" here**] are two of the places with the reverse of SIMBAD. These Hoag et al. stars are not in the GSC: 24, 45, 58, 59, 63, 67, 69, 71, 80, 83, 85, 87, 88, 89, 92, 93, 94. 4067-862 & 4067-873: The 1855 coordinates for BD+61 649 lie almost exactly halfway between these two GSC stars. 4068-347: This is evidently DH97, though DH do not give a BD number.
