Mechanisms: Shutter |

The shutter has been undergoing lifetime testing. It has been cycled
over 12,000 times. The sequence is the following: the solenoid is
powered up and the shutter opens, the pneumatic assist is put in place, and
the solenoid powered down. For closing the sequence is reversed. To the right
is a movie (7Mb) of the shutter opening and closing.
We are using a standard Prontor 150 mm shutter. However, we have modified it
to have a open aperture of 162 mm, as well as added a pneumatic assist.
The assist allows us to shut off the solenoid, which can generate
unwanted heat, during an exposure.
