The first lens in the camera has an aspheric surface on the front surface.
Though there are added difficulties in producing and aligning an asphere, the
addition of the asphere allowed us to reduce the number of lenses in the
camera design, including removing an entire NaCl triplet.
The asphere arrived in a testing fixture along with a null lens produced in
order to measure the aspheric surface.
