12 January 2004:
Cleveland Crystals, to where this lens was shipped for coating, reported to
us that the lens has
what appears to be grinding artifacts on the convex
side. The lens does meet the scratch-dig specification, but appeared to
make it through the quality assurance stage at Janos Technology. The lens
will be shipped back to Janos to be fixed.

This is A-L6, the first fused silica element in the camera triplet.
