This page shows examples of how three different images behave at various levels of compression using the wavelet compression of R. L. White. Note that in progressive transmission the level of compression varies with time, so that a compression factor of 50, for example, represents the received image after only 2% of the total transmission time of the raw image. The images below are representative samples of astronomical images, weather images, and other types of images.
