The ST5000 software is compiled on a QNX PC or laptop.

  1. Start Conditions:
  2. Load the st5k.tar.gz file into your home directory
  3. Remove old software:
    # /bin/rm -f ./st5k
  4. Unpack it:
    # zcat st5k.tar.gz | tar xvf -
  5. Build the Tcl support:
    # cd st5k/tcl/nto
    # zcat tcl8.3.1.tar.Z | tar xvf -
    # cd tcl8.3.1/unix
    # ./configure
    # make
    # cd
  6. Build the Lost-in-Space support:
    # cd st5k
    # zcat lis.tar.Z | tar xvf -
    # cd lis/lib
    # mkdir exe
    # make
    # cd
  7. Build the time/calendar support:
    # cd st5k
    # zcat times.tar.Z | tar xvf -
    # mkdir exe
    # make
    # cd
  8. Build the ST5000 library
    # cd st5k/mk2/lib
    # make clean
    ( these next two things happen automatically on herman, but not on old-dell laptop)
    # make lex.yy.c
    # make y.tab.c
    # make
    # cd
  9. Build the ST5000 executables
    # cd st5k/mk2
    # make clean
    # make
  10. Load the st5k*.exe files into the tracker.
